    There are few things in life that are as painful as a divorce from a spouse, or having children no longer live in the same home with both parents.  Unfortunately, in life, these decisions must be made.  When life, throws you such an unexpected turn of events, it is important to have a skillful, caring attorney to guide you through this difficult time.
    It is important during such times that you have an attorney that will seek to resolve these issues with a firm, yet gentle hand.  One who seeks to reach amicable settlements with the other side when and wherever possible, but who is also ready to go forward with skillful and competent litigation, should efforts at settlement fail.  My goal for my clients is to seek an out of court resolution of all matters, whenever possible, before going forward in Court.  This course of action not only keeps costs down, but also preserves assets and keeps you in control of the final outcome.  It should be the focus of your attorney to assist you reaching your goals taking the most direct route possible, and this is what we here at Kirk A.                      Our practice is centered around the following areas of law

Divorce:
    You will be guided through what is needed to have a final order of divorce entered.  There are several grounds of divorce including one year separation, adultery, desertion and cruelty.  We will determine the best ground to pursue for your divorce and will ensure that any property division is done so fairly.


Separation: 
   Should you need a Separation Agreement to specifically outline division of marital assets and debt, child custody and visitation, or child and spousal support, we can help you prepare the needed document that will be your roadmap both prior to and after your divorce is final.


Alimony/Spousal support: 
   We will assess what your needs are is versus your spouse's finacial ability to pay, and advise you what the proper amount of spousal support should be under the law.  We will also protect your rights should spousal support be sought from you.


Child support:  
  We will advise you what the state guidelines say child support should be, ensuring that all proper credits and information is taken into consideration in calculating this amount.

Visitation with children:    We will assist in formulating an appropriate visitation schedule so that the children may maximize their time with both parents, and keep a stable, loving, home environment so that they can flourish and prosper.



Paternity and Father’s rights: 
   We will guide you through the process of obtaining a paternity test, if needed, as well as protecting the rights of Fathers to develop a relationship with their children


Wills/Power of Attorney’s:  
  Every person, especially those with children, should have a Will and Power of Attorney to direct who should receive benefits from their estate and who should take care of important matters should they be incapacitated.  We will assist you in preparing these documents.
